The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place is a residential treatment center that offers substance abuse treatment to women and women with dependent children. While at The Gathering Place, clients are involved in various therapeutic, recreational and community recovery-oriented activities. Each client is assigned a clinician upon admission and given a thorough intake interview, after which an individualized treatment plan is developed. Clients engage in weekly one-to-one counseling sessions in addition to a multitude of group activities that focus on: chemical dependency, sharing “life stories,” parenting, trauma recovery concepts, grief and loss, healthy relationships, recreation, vocational skills, social skills and daily living skills.
The Gathering Place utilizes the following treatment modalities:
- Strength-Based Counseling Techniques
- Seeking Safety
- 12-Step Meetings
- Motivational Interviewing
- Solution-Focused Therapy
- Corrective Thinking (True Thought)
- Family Involvement
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
During treatment, women receive 30 hours per week of intensive, structured, staff-facilitated group activities, which focus on all aspects of chemical dependency. Family involvement is incorporated into the weekly schedule each Friday on Family Day. Family Days include an educational component relating to family issues (family dynamics, effects of alcohol and drugs on the family and family rules). We provide the opportunity for GED preparation.
The Gathering Place provides the following community living components: daily schedule of activities, weekly community meetings, participation in activities identical to those in a home, adequate space for personal privacy and security of property, homelike and comfortable setting, availability for placing/hanging personal possessions/decorations, and daily access to nutritious meals and snacks. Appropriate space is available for quiet areas and visiting areas. Funding provided by Wyoming Department of Health Behavioral Health Division.
