Who We Are

At Volunteers of America Indiana, we believe each person should be in the driver’s seat of his or her recovery process.

You set your own goals and your counselor assists you in reaching them.

Our counselors are trained to work with you hand-in-hand throughout your healing journey.

We are happy to accept those who are, for the first time, considering making life changes, as well as individuals who have a great deal of treatment experience. No problem is too small or too large.

Family involvement is welcome if it is appropriate for your situation. We also work closely with many community resources to connect you with support if you have needs that require more than counseling.

We are proud that 94 percent of our counseling clients made progress toward achieving their goals last year. Because we at Volunteers of America Indiana understand that mental health and substance abuse issues are often urgent, we offer timely intake, easy access and convenient office hours.  You will find more detailed information on affordability and eligibility on the Payment Options page.

Our Core Values

1.  Innate health. We believe strongly that all people – regardless of their conditions and circumstances – embody the potential for peak health. We see it as our duty to help people clear away the barriers and impediments, treat the symptoms of disease, and fill the gaps in their lives, revealing their innate health.

2.   Solutions are community-based.  We ascribe to the principle that when we serve and treat people in their communities -- engaging, harnessing and leveraging assets and resources within the community -- the outcomes are always better.

3.  Recovery is possible.  We know from experience that people living with mental health and/or substance use disorders can and will recover if they receive the most appropriate care and support services and are effectively engaged in their own recovery.
