Substance Abuse Services

Volunteers of America is a leader in the field of substance abuse treatment and prevention, offering a continuum of care consisting of supportive services and residential treatment options to assist adults and their families in experiencing life without addiction and becoming  contributing members of their community. At Volunteers of America Chesapeake's Residential Program Center, people with substance abuse issues receive support from trained counselors in a social detoxification program as well as a 90-day residential program.  The Detox Unit is a 3-14 day program allowing those in acute need to be detoxed and to receive education on substance abuse issues, relapse prevention and recovery.  The Detox Unit also offers Acudetox for clients.  The 90-day program (Early Recovery) addresses more long-term treatment goals, such as developing a network of support, intensive self-assessment of needs, and preparation for sober living.  In addition, Volunteers of America Chesapeake offers substance abuse counseling either on-site or by referral at all our homeless shelters and corrections programs.
